Challenges
The IT staff at Spring Branch ISD serve 50,000 users and manage 100,000 devices running disparate workloads including ERP, student information, and phone systems, plus SQL servers and various education-specific applications. When a third-party software update created an unplanned global outage and the primary storage lead was two hours away, the team was faced with recovering data. They soon discovered they could not restore many of the district's Hyper-V virtual machines following standard procedures.
Results
Using the previous night's Veeam backups on the Everpure platform, the IT team was able to restore operations quickly. By the end of the weekend, they had restored all systems while other organisations were still down. Because the IT team is cross-trained, the cybersecurity and infrastructure teams were able to communicate seamlessly and make fast decisions without the primary lead onsite.
